“What’s the Best Way to Support Startups: Services or Cash?” the Leroy Brothers Story
What’s the Best Way to Support Startups, Services or Cash? on ReadWriteWeb
“Most of the time, when a startup goes after venture capital, they’re still in the process of building a product and bringing it to market. They need things like servers, developers, marketing tools and sometimes office space. Do they need money per se? Or is capital an increasingly arbitrary and unnecessary step in building a tech startup?”
As first time startup entrepreneurs we had some terrible experiences with our first developers, which costed us money and time. Looots of time… We launched leroybrothers.com early, but due to bad programming, the platform had a difficult start. We decided to take it offline and restart from scratch. The concept remained the same, the platform had to change.
When you are bootstrapping your startup, every penny counts which makes you make budget-friendly decisions. However, when it comes to your main activity, i.e. the platform, the pennies saved on bad developers come back to you as a boomrang. Don’t save on your core activity! The Leroy Brothers made a deal with our new developers at AGx, who provided their development services in exchange of being part of this thrilling project. Special thanks to Ben and Timo!
